Hello! My name is Bob. Last weekend I was at the Amory’s Tomb Beer Garden, and I made the mistake of giving Allen grief about not consistently sending out newsletters. His response was something along the lines of “Hey, we’re very busy working on the tap room, we have outside lives too and if you want the newsletter so badly, why don’t you just write it?” Me and my big mouth! So here we are!
It’s the perfect time for a newsletter though because after months of huddling around the heaters and/or soaking in cold rain, the leaves are out and the air is warm. It’s finally here. It really is Beer Garden Season! Here’s what’s going on at AT:
Wax Galaxies Has Returned
When I visit Amory’s Tomb, I almost always want to have a Man Bun Pilsner. It’s my personal favorite! But I also enjoy the many, many variations of farmhouse ales that are periodically on offer, and so I am very pleased to report that Wax Galaxies has returned!
Available in cans at the beer garden, Wax Galaxies is one of their more hop-satuarated farmhouse ales, brewed with massive additions of Saaz, Moetuek and Wai-Iti hops on top of Blue Ox Yankee Pils, Wheat and Munich malts alongside Aurora Mills Organic Flaked Oaks.
But enough of the technical details, which I don’t really understand anyway. For me, Wax Galaxies is a blend of American and Belgian farmhouse styles, and it is terrific!
Also available right now is the Wax Galaxies Summer Shandy! It’s made with Wax Galaxies (duh!) and Newman’s Organic Limeade, and its garnished with a slice a lime. It’s a very refreshing alternative for the hotter days, and has already proven very popular in the Beer Garden.
Allen and Rick actually expected to have Wax Galaxies on draft now as well, but the kegs were over-pressurized! When I learned about this, visions of exploding beer kegs excitedly danced in my head, but sadly that just meant they couldn’t pour correctly. The problem will be rectified in a few weeks, and then we’ll be able to enjoy Wax Galaxies on draft too
Maynard Happenings in June
It’s a common dilemma whenever something fun is happening in the Town of Maynard. You want to attend the event, but you also want to go the Beer Garden to enjoy some lagers and ales. What to do? Well, for two upcoming weekend events you won’t have to choose!
The First Annual Maynard Pride Fest will be on June 7th - 9th. On Sunday the 9th from 12:00 to 4:00 AT will be pouring at the Pride in the Park Festival which features music, food, vendors and entertainment! Then the following Saturday, June 15th, is Maynard Jazz Fest from 12:00 to 6:00. Amory’s Tomb will be pouring at Memorial Park for both events, in addition to the Beer Garden!
Now you can support the community while also enjoying your favorite beverages! It’s like having your cake and eating it too! Or maybe more like having you beer and drinking it too!
Partnership with Perico’s Taqueria
A couple of weeks ago a new Taco Truck opened up in town, fronted by two Maynard residents, Victor and Lesley. They were serving up their delicious creations on Main Street near the Mill & Main parking lot, but ran into issues with some other local businesses . Allen reached out to offer a spot and a wonderful partnership was born. Join Perico’s in the beer garden each friday from 12:00 to 9:00 (but don’t sleep on it, they have been very popular and usually sell out early!)
Rainy Day Club Jacket
I don’t have to tell you that there’s been a lot of lousy, wet weather the past 12 months. Last summer was the 2nd rainiest on record in Boston, and I don’t recall the fall being much better. But through rain and hail storms, swirling clouds and even tornado warnings, Allen and Rick have opened the Beer Garden and you’ve shown up to keep them motivated and their spirits high.
To commemorate the many, many times you’ve been soaked while drinking your suds, Amory’s Tomb is introducing the Rainy Day Club jacket, a packable quarter-zip jacket perfect for weathering the elements in the beer garden, or wherever your journey may take you. Black jackets are available in Adult Mens/Unisex Sizes from Small to 3XL. $90.00/each, available by pre-order only.
They look pretty stylish! I am also predicting a reverse-jinx effect here. The more jackets that people buy, the less likely that we’ll actually have to use them at the Beer Garden! If Allen and Rick sell enough of them, maybe it will never rain on a Saturday or Sunday again! (Note, I am not a meteorologist, and you probably shouldn’t rely on this prediction.)

The AT crew will be pouring at a handful of upcoming beer festivals around the region.
