Weekly Roundup 2/18/26

Hello! My name is Bob and I am writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter. What’s that? “Weekly?”, you ask. That’s right! Which takes us to our first item:

Social Media Tired! Old School Newsletters Wired!

In case you didn’t see their farewell posts, Amory’s Tomb has decided to no longer provide updates on social media. While foreswearing Facebook and Instagram undoubtedly improved Allen’s mental health, it does beg the question of where you can get updates regarding what is going on at the Tomb.

Your best source of information would be to actually visit the Taproom, of course! You can also visit amorystomb.com to see a listing of upcoming events and a relatively current draught list.

But another way you can keep informed is by receiving this here newsletter. Allen and I are moving from the prior monthly tomes to a shorter weekly format focused on what’s happening right now and in the next 1-2 weeks.

So if you want to know what’s coming up at your favorite saison-focused local brewery, just check your inbox each week. Tell your friends to go to amorystomb.com and subscribe, too. Heck, maybe even Rick will finally subscribe!

FEATURED EVENT

Melted Record Coffee Pop Up and Brunch Sunday February 22nd!

If you’ve been to the Taproom on a Sunday over the past few weeks (incidentally, AT has started calling them Sunday Fellowship) you’ve probably enjoyed Allen’s artisanal doughnuts. They’ve been different and amazing every week.

For this coming Sunday Fellowship, Amory’s Tomb is upping the ante! Melted Record Coffee Roasters will be in the taproom to providing hot and cold coffee and espresso pours.

To accompany your coffee (or beer, of course!) Amory’s Tomb will be offering a selection of sweet and savory brunch items! The menu is still being finalized as I write this, but Allen has promised it’ll include mini Belgian waffles, sweet and savory toasts, and yogurt!

Personally, I’m wondering which beer pair best with Belgian waffles and espresso. My guess is either Robust Porter or Double Oak Classic. There’s only one way to find out for sure!

Brunch will be served from 12:00pm to 4:00pm

DRAUGHT UPDATE

Eight Hundred Year Alignment Makes Shocking One-Off Return!

One of the joys of going to the taproom since it opened in December is seeing what keg of long-forgotten farmhouse ale Allen and Rick have found to put on draught. It seems like there’s been at least one surprise on the menu almost every time I’ve visited, but this past week was a true stunner.

Eight Hundred Year Alignment, brewed in 2021, returned to draught for a limited time! This beer is a 7.9% ABV Bière de Garde that is described as having “notes of juicy fruit, herbal citrus and floral honey.”

Normally when I read a beer’s description I find that I can’t taste any of what they say I should, but with respect to Eight Hundred Year Alignment, I’d say that’s pretty spot on! I remembered this one as being pretty good when it was first released in 2021, and if anything the 5 years have mellowed into an even better ale now.

The name “Eight Hundred Year Alignment” commemorates the “Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in December, 2020, when the 2 planets were separated by no more than a tenth of a degree in the night sky. It was as close together as Jupiter and Saturn had been in 800 years! So you’d better hurry and get a draught of this one while it is still on tap because I don’t think Allen and Rick will be brewing it again for another 794 years!
