Weekly Update June 24, 2026
Hello! My name is Bob, and I’m really enjoying all the soccer. There’s been great drama and stories in many of the matches, and the tournament has given me plenty of chances to blow my vuvuzela! You remember those, right?
For some reason, the rest of the members of my household do not quite share my level of enthusiasm and have suggested that I find something else to do that does not involve the vuvuzela. So I’m writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter!
First, a quick heads-up. Wheats & Water Crafted Doughz will be serving up pizza at Amory’s Tomb tonight, June 24th!
I also need to give you an alert that there will not be any Sunday Fellowship - AT’s brunch food offerings - in the month of July. Allen’s taking a well-deserved vacation that covers a couple of the Sundays, and there’s a few other conflicts. So get to the Taproom and Beer Garden this Sunday, June 28th to enjoy enough savory breakfast sandwiches and sweet baked goods to hold you over until sometime in August!
Seriously, the last few weeks have been great, and Father’s Day was amazing! Come load up one more time until August!
Here’s the rest of this week’s Tomb News:
FEATURED EVENT
Nashua River Brewers Fest on Saturday, June 27th
The Nashua River Brewers Festival will be taking place at Riverfront Park in Fitchburg on Saturday, June 27th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Amory’s Tomb will be pouring at this event.
You may have noticed that Allen and Rick don’t really do that many beer festivals, but they’ve consistently done this one over the years. The organizers are friends of theirs, and are part of an organization called Beers for Good.
Beers for Good is essentially a group of volunteers who decided to get together and hold a craft beer festival in Fitchburg, with all the profits going to local charities. In fact, since 2008, they’ve been able to donate over $96,000 to local charities!
This year the primary beneficiary of the festival will be Ginny’s Helping Hand and Food Pantry. Beers for Good is also billing this festival as the “Last Call”, so it sure looks like this is the final iteration of Nashua Rivers Brewers Festival.
The beer lineup looks quite good, too. There will be over 20 vendors. Some of the other breweries are ones that you may be familiar with, including a few who have collaborated with Amory’s Tomb over the years. However, since this festival is a bit further west there are also a few that are less familiar, at least to me.
All in all, it’ll be an afternoon filled with excellent beer for a great cause. It should be a good time! Here’s a link for more information on the Nashua River Brewers Festival:
DRAUGHT UPDATE
In the Darkness of Shadows is Back!
Amory’s Tomb has made so many great beers over the years, and the reality is that they have so many terrific beers that some of them are bound to disappear and never return. Much as I have loved these great farmhouse ales, I’ve always just assumed we’ll never see another version of Field Horizon, Gris or Passer Incantare.
Well, there may be hope for long-lamented beers after all! Allen and Rick have brought back another great beer from the past: In the Darkness of Shadows!
In the Darkness of Shadows is a Belgian-inspired Dark Farmhouse Ale. It’s a little bit stronger than the typical AT beer, coming in at 8.0%, so this might not be the one to slam down right after you finish mowing the lawn!
I had a draught of In the Darkness of Shadows in the Taproom, and as you would probably expect for a beer of this strength, there’s a lot going on! Personally, I tasted some plum and black currants, maybe some toffee, and also a bit of spice.
I am so thrilled that Allen and Rick decided to bring this one back, and would recommend you enjoy one in the Taproom now, whether you remember its original release or not.
The return of In the Darkness of Shadows has given me hope that maybe some of the other all-time greats can return, too. Who remembers Ephemeral Dirt? Or how about Shorebird and its even better cousin Barrel-Aged Shorebird? And do I dare dream of a new batch of A Quiet Place for Weavers? Hey Allen and Rick, can you get on these?
Unlike my other dream requests, In the Darkness of Shadows is on draught now in the Taproom, with cans on the way soon.
