Weekly Roundup 4/1/26

WEEKLY ROUNDUP April 1, 2026

Hello! My name is Bob, and I just registered my 15,000th beer on Untappd. To celebrate what is without question my life’s greatest achievement, I am writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter! It’s a new month, so let’s see what’s new at the Tomb:

FEATURED EVENT

Post Malone Night Friday, April 3rd!

Look, it was fun for awhile, but face it, we’re all getting tired of the whole “gray walls, doom metal” thing in the Taproom.  I mean, I like loud distorted guitars and shrieking vocals as much as the next person, but enough’s enough already.  Lighten up!

Fortunately, Allen and Rick agree!  It’s time for the Taproom to feature something more upbeat.  Something simpler.  Something, well, more popular.  Something likely to draw a bigger and younger crowd.

That’s right!  On Friday, April 3rd, come to the Taproom for Post Malone Night!  It’ll be all Post Malone music, all night!  Will Allen and Rick favor his earlier era rap music or his more recent turn as a country artist?  There’s only one way to find out!

And for one night only, the draughts in the Taproom will be served in red solo cups, just like Postie carries onstage!   There will even be black makeup sticks and mirrors around for you to make your own (temporary) Post Malone face tattoos!  So cool!

I can’t wait to hear amazing hits like “I Had Some Help (feat. Morgan Wallen)”,  “Psycho (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)”, “Losers (feat. Jelly Roll)” and “Goodbyes (feat. Young Thug)”.  Is there anyone Post Malone can’t get to collaborate with him on a song?

Check the Amory’s Tomb feed on Instagram and Facebook for more details on Post Malone Night.  Oh, did I mention that Allen has decided to return to social media?  They have, and with a vengeance!  Amory’s Tomb even has a TikTok now!

It’s certainly going to be a Good Friday on April 3rd in the Taproom with Post Malone Night!

DRAUGHT UPDATE

New Milkshake IPA Released Today!!!

Allen and Rick have surprised us by releasing a new IPA today, and it’s a milkshake IPA! For those unfamiliar, a Milkshake IPA is a New England-style hazy IPA brewed with lactose sugar! Milkshake IPAs are thick and creamy, and usually have fruit added to them. I’ve heard Allen talk about brewing with lactose sugar since I first met him in the Taproom years ago, and now he’s done it!

The new beer is called “Pastel Neon Dragon”, and it’s brewed with a blend of proprietary hops sourced from South Dakota! It’s brewed with lactose sugar, of course, and then Allen and Rick added a ton of strawberries and bananas!

The result is a beer with a mouth feel that is thicker than Justin’s beard but Pastel Neon Dragon is not at all bitter. No more need to walk down the street to the McDonald’s for a strawberry milkshake. Amory’s Tomb’s got you covered!

Pastel Neon Dragon will be coming soon in cans, too! I’ve seen a mockup of the label and it is terrific. It has a cute, Yoshi-esque dragon flying in the center with all sorts of brightly colored stars and and smiley faces all around. Beautiful!

IPAs are always popular, hazy ones even more so, and it’s about time Allen and Rick jumped on the admittedly crowded bandwagon! Pastel Neon Dragon is sure to be a hit and the first in a rotating series of Milkshake IPAs. Enjoy a draught in the Taproom now!

Oh, and one more thing:

APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Did I get you at all? Did you at least for a second think AT was hosting a Post Malone night? Or that Allen and Rick had started brewing with lactose sugar?

Don’t worry! Everything above is a complete lie! Well, except for the part about Allen talking about brewing with lactose sugar ever since I first met him. That’s true. He’s talks about how much he hates the idea of brewing with lactose sugar! Sorry if you got your hopes up, but there won’t be any Milkshake IPAs in the taproom any time soon!

Weekly Roundup 3/25/26

WEEKLY ROUNDUP March 25, 2026

Hello! My name is Bob, and I remember when the baseball season started in the early April, not the last week of March. It’s too early! But I’ll save the rest of this take for my other newsletter, “An Old Guy Tells You Why Baseball Was Better 40 Years Ago”. I have 5 subscribers.

The Amory’s Tomb newsletter’s subscription base is over 100 times larger. So let’s get to the news of the week at the Tomb.

We’ll start by reminding you that today (March 25th) is the start of the New England Real Ale Exhibition in Boston. We covered this event in great detail in last week’s newsletter, so dig that one out of your Inbox, Trash or Spam folder. And if you want even more info, click this link:

 NERAX

March 25th might be a ridiculous date to start the baseball season, but it is a great date to be trying out the best properly cellared US and UK cask ale you’ll find in the America!

FEATURED MERCH

Have You Checked Out Amory’s Tomb’s Online Merch Store?

In the old taproom, Allen and Rick used to have a selection of AT-branded merchandise (t-shirts, hoodies and the like) available for sale. After the old taproom closed, they didn’t bother with merch much because it was difficult to sell in the Beer Garden.

Now that the new Taproom is open, you may be wondering where all the new AT merch is. It turns out Allen and Rick have moved it all online. I didn’t realize they’d done this until Allen pointed out that he’d updated the website and is working with a company that prints merch on demand. So I went to the online store, and the selection is great!

Remember that hoodie from the old taproom with the skeleton guy holding a scythe? That guy was gnarly and the thing sold out almost instantly. Well, with the online store you can once again get a “Dead Punk” (apparently, that’s what he’s called. I had no idea!) hoodie, and now you can get a Dead Punk t-shirt or tank top, too! Other classics are available too, such as the “Saison Modern” t-shirt and the “Rotting Skull” t-shirt. I know it sounds gross, but you’ll recognize this last one when you see it.

I decided to order something new - a hoodie with the words “None More Gray” on the back. Where’d that phrase come from? Perhaps you, like me, thought the walls of the new Taproom were painted black. It turns out that’s wrong. Allen informed me that the walls are gray, the darkest gray imaginable. Hence, “None More Gray”.

Maybe the best part of the “None More Gray” hoodie is that it comes with an “AT” stitched into the end of the white sleeve. It’s a little touch, but it looks really sharp.

I was also pleased that Allen decided to go American spelling rather than British this time, spelling it “Gray” rather than “Grey”. We don’t need another draft/draught controversy!

My order arrived in less than 2 weeks. If anything, I would say the quality of the merch is higher than the old stuff. The hoodie feels great. I’ve worn it multiple times already, including to a Nine Inch Nails concert, where “None More Gray” was an entirely appropriate sentiment!

I’ll probably place another order when the weather gets warmer, too. I am definitely getting a Dead Punk t-shirt. That “Rotting Skulls” t-shirt looks great, even if the name is slightly, um, off-putting. And while I am not a hat person, they’ve got some really sweet look AT hats available.

So if you’ve been itching for some new Amory’s Tomb merch, particularly as we are rapidly approaching Beer Garden season, check out their new online store here:

DRAUGHT UPDATE

Robust Porter is the #1 English-Style Porter in the United States According to Untappd Users!!!

Ever since the new Taproom opened, we’ve been nearly overwhelmed by the array of old and new saisons plus a great new IPA. Heck, I spent last week’s newsletter gushing about the Lukr tap itself.

All this razzle-dazzle (relatively speaking, of course. This is still Amory’s Tomb we are talking about) is terrific, but it’s time to acknowledge what may be the true workhorse beer of Amory’s Tomb over the past 12 months, Robust Porter. Seriously, I think it’s been AT’s dark beer draught offering since last summer in the Beer Garden.

Well, its days in the shadows may be over! Robust Porter has just been named the #1 English-Style Porter in the entire United States by Untappd. For those who keep tabs on such things, it finished #1 in Massachusetts in 2024 and #2 in Massachusetts in 2025. Personally, I was hoping it would regain its state crown in 2026. Obviously it went even higher!

I had a draught of Robust Porter the other day in the Taproom before reading about the 2026 Untappd ranking. Man, it was good! It has that roasty flavor you look for in a porter or stout, with hints of coffee and chocolate, though to be clear, this beer contains neither coffee nor chocolate. It’s just Allen and Rick’s skill plus good ingredients that are creating those flavors.

If you are like me, and you’ve been ignoring Robust Porter, now seems like the perfect time to renew acquaintances with the #1 English-Style Porter in the whole dang US-of-A!

Weekly Roundup 3/18/26

WEEKLY ROUNDUP March 18, 2026

Hello! My name is Bob, and I just had oral surgery a couple of days ago! You better believe I could use a draught or four of Double Oak Classic! To distract myself from how my mouth is feeling, I am writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter.

Phew! The past week was super-busy with Mass Beer Week events and then the awesome Full Irish Breakfast. Things will be a little more sedate in the Taproom this week, although I would draw your attention to the “unsanctioned” (?) Wurst Nacht on Thursday, March 19th and first return of the new year for Ben’s Raclette during the day on Saturday, March 21st. You can find more details on the AT website calendar or by clicking the hot-links below.

For those craving more of the excitement of the past week, the next big Amory’s Tomb-related event will be occurring in Boston towards the end of March. Here’s more:

FEATURED EVENT

NERAX is Returning to South Boston March 25-28, and Amory’s Tomb is a Sponsor!

NERAX stands for the New England Real Ale Exhibition, which bills itself as the longest running Cask Festival in the United States. It’s been around since 1997, and (according to Allen) is the Gold Standard cask ale event in the US!

The festival runs from Wednesday, March 25 through Saturday, March 28th at the South Boston Lithuanian Club, 368 W Broadway in Boston. There’s one session each evening on Wednesday through Friday, and then two sessions on Saturday.

We’re featuring NERAX in this week’s newsletter because Amory’s Tomb is the glassware sponsor. Their logo will be on the Imperial Pint glasses used during the festival and available for purchase at the event.

Of course, Amory’s Tomb will also have two collaboration beers available at some point during the festival. The first of these will be a collab with Clover Road Brewing. It’s a Black Country style bitter inspired by a beer Allen “fell in love with” (his actual words!) during his trip to the UK last year, Batham’s Bitter. It’s a blond colored, malt forward bitter that uses softer water to bring forward the esters in the beer.

The second collab brew is a smoked golden English ale brewed with Time and Materials Beer Company. It’s brewed with lightly smoked pilsner and maple-smoked pilsner malt, caramel malt and Quebec Riel hops. This one sounds super-interesting to me.

In addition to sponsoring the glassware and brewing two special collaborations, Allen is on the Cellar Team for this event. There’s a ton of work that falls to the Cellar Team in order to set the whole expo up, but once the setup is complete the real work of the Cellar Team begins. That’s because every day the Cellar Team does testing and QC on the each beer to make sure it is at its peak before it’s put on tap.

Oh, did I mention there are roughly 115 different beers? Yes, 115. (Though I will note that “only” 35 - 50 will be available at any one session.) How the cellar team tastes 115 different beers and is still able to distinguish anything is beyond me. I think by about beer 15 my palate would be wrecked and I would be tapping out. Or falling over. Forget the brewers themselves, the Cellar Team sounds like the real heroes of NERAX!

I will freely admit to being a skeptic when it comes to English-style cask beer. Frankly, most of the cask beers I had in London tasted bad or tasted like nothing at all. The fact that they were warm and flat was the least of their problems. Now, I know I mostly went to pubs owned by a well-known chain (we won’t slander them here, but if you’ve been to London you know who I am referring to) and drank their pretty mainstream options. I am sure I was not sampling the best beer, or beer that was cared for in the ideal manner.

NERAX, on the other hand, sounds fantastic! The two Amory’s Tomb collabs alone make it worth your time, but it sounds like there is so much more. As Allen says, this is a traditionalist beer festival with great examples of properly cellared US and UK cask beers. If you are like me, and you think virtually all cask beer is overrated, this might be the festival to change your mind!

You can find much more information on NERAX at their website:

DRAUGHT UPDATE

Have You Had a Broken Latch Lukr Pour Yet?

In case you haven’t noticed, the AT Taproom has a Lukr tap! What’s a Lukr tap, you ask? It’s a Czech-made tap that allows the beer to be poured with an extra thick, creamy head. The faucet is actually set in such a way that one can regulate the amount of foam in the glass - all the way to a glass filled entirely with foam!

“What’s the big deal?”, I hear you asking, “if I want more foam can’t I just shake my glass a bit?” No, it’s not the same thing! The Lukr tap’s foam is so rich and dense that it actually changes the way a beer tastes.

The first beer that comes to mind for a Lukr tap is, of course, a Czech pilsner. But Amory’s Tomb doesn’t have one of those at the moment (Hint, hint, Allen and Rick! Make more Man Bun!) So they’ve put Broken Latch, their rustic amber lager on the Lukr.

And you know what? It tastes great! Broken Latch was already a terrific beer. There’s a reason it is AT’s go-to fall lager. But the Lukr somehow smooths the beer out even more, changing its flavor in subtle ways.

It’s tough to describe, so the best I can do is simply encourage you to try one for yourself next time you are in the Taproom. If you like regular Broken Latch, I think you’ll really like this one. Plus, Broken Latch comes in the dimple mug, which I think is the coolest looking taproom glass!

See you at the Tomb!  I’ll be the one holding a cold can of Rolling Through Outer Space against my jaw!

Weekly Roundup 3/11/26

WEEKLY ROUNDUP March 11, 2026

Hello!  My name is Bob, and it took me something like 50 years to realize it’s “Daylight Saving Time” and not “Daylight Savings Time”.  The missing “s” is for the sleep you lost!  Because I enjoy pedantic word facts like this one, I’m writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter!

First off, here’s a reminder that we are in the midst of Mass Beer Week, which runs through Saturday, March 14th.  Amory’s Tomb has a special event planned for literally every day right through Saturday.  We’ve covered the events in detail over the last two emails, but in case you’ve forgotten them already, a complete listing is at the bottom of this newsletter.

But the fun at AT doesn’t end when Mass Beer Week does!  Here’s what’s coming up in the Taproom:

FEATURED EVENT

Allen’s Serving a Full Irish Breakfast in the Taproom on Sunday, March 15th!

St. Patrick’s Day is on a Tuesday this year which is inconvenient for a Taproom that is closed on Tuesdays.  Well, who cares about exact dates?  Not me!

On Sunday, March 15th, two days before the Wearin’ O’ The Green, you can start celebrating early with the Eatin’ O’ The Big Breakfast in the Taproom.  That’s right!  AT will be serving a Full Irish Breakfast.

You may remember this same event back in the old taproom days.  I sure do.  Allen exceeded his usual high Sunday brunch standards back then, and it sure looks like he’s going all out this year.

There won’t be any doughnuts with green frosting or bowls of Lucky Charms being served this Sunday.  No, this will be a full, authentic Irish Breakfast.  Check out this lineup:

  • Donnelly Black and White Puddings

  • Donnelly Rashers and Bangers

  • Batchelors Baked Beans

  • O’Donnell’s Wild Atlantic Wheaten Soda Bread

  • Grilled Tomatoes

  • Grilled Mushrooms

  • Hard Fried Eggs

  • Kerry Gold Butter

  • Marmalade

Wow!  That menu is incredible!  If you haven’t been attending Sunday brunches in the new Taproom yet, I strongly suggest you make time for this one!  I’m willing to predict a lot of Robust Porter is going to be poured on Sunday, too!

DRAUGHT UPDATE

New Release: Foeder XLII Joins Saison XLII!

Saison XLII has been anchoring the farmhouse ale offerings in the Taproom since it opened in December.  If you ask me, Saison XLII is a saison for everyone.  It hits the sweet spot of farmhouse flavors that make it enjoyable for both folks who’ve never had a saison before and folks who are up for the most adventurous beer.

Well unbeknownst to us, Allen and Rick dumped a batch of Saison XLII into their foeder, and the result is surprise release for the start of Mass Beer Week - Foeder XLII!

Before describing the beer, let’s have yet another pedantic moment to discuss pronunciation.  The first syllable rhymes with dude, not toad.  It’s pronounced “fooder” not “foader”.  I have no idea why it’s pronounced that way when it is spelled “foeder”, but then again I still say Allen and Rick spell the word “draught” wrong, so what do I know?

As for the more important topic - the beer itself - Foeder XLII definitely tastes different from Saison XLII.  It’s funkier, oakier, and more tart.  It’s definitely a more adventurous farmhouse ale experience, but well worth your time to enjoy.

Actually, if you come to the Taproom with a friend, I’d recommend ordering a Saison XLII and Foeder XLII at the same time (or as I like to say, order a Saison LXXXIV) so you and your friend can do your own taste comparison.  I think it’s really amazing how much the foeder has changed the base beer.

Don’t ask me which I prefer -  Saison XLII or Foeder XLII.  That’s like asking me which of my children I prefer!  Both beers are great, but they are great in different ways!

Foeder XLII probably won’t be on draft for very long, so enjoy either a Foeder XLII or a Saison LXXXIV while you can!

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Here’s what’s coming soon for Amory’s Tomb

This coming week is stacked! See you there!

Weekly Roundup 3/4/26

Hello!  My name is Bob, and I am in Toronto right now!  I am homesick for my favorite saison-forward brewery, and so I am writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter!  Let’s jump right in:

FEATURED EVENTS

Mass Beer Week Returns Saturday, March 7th to Saturday March 14!

Each year, the Massachusetts Brewers Guild celebrates Mass Beer Week in early March.  In last week’s newsletter we covered the first half of the week, including the Kickoff on March 7th and the Brewer’s Brunch on March 8th, as well as Allen’s Obnoxious Acid Rock Industry Night on Tuesday March 10th.  If you want to learn a bit more about those events, sift through your inbox (or spam??) to find last week’s newsletter.

Here’s what’s happening for the balance of Mass Beer Week

Wednesday March 11th: Homebrew Demonstration in the Beer Garden

If you are like me, you’ve probably whined to Allen more than once about how we still don’t have any Saison I: The Classic on tap.  Allen’s response when I last gave him grief?  “Fine, you want Saison I, you make it yourself!”

And he wasn’t kidding!  Those brown paper bags of grains stacked up with the other merch down the back hallway of the Taproom are homebrew kits with the ingredients you need to make your own Saison I.

So on Wednesday March 11th, as part of Mass Beer Week, Rick will be demonstrating how to make your own in the Beer Garden!  It’s like a magician telling you how they do their tricks!

LATE ENTRY Thursday, March 14th: Bergo & Tube Nacht!?

Editors here — we just confirmed a last minute B-E-R-G-O and Tube night with our good friends Underberg America. We’ll have food and drink pairings, prizes and games featuring our favorite bitter in a bottle, Underberg.

Friday March 13th: Screams & Suds presents a Snow Beast Horror Movie Viewing in the Taproom!

It’s Friday the 13th of Mass Beer Week.  Of course Amory’s Tomb is going to be screening a (public domain) horror movie!

AT’s friends from Screams & Suds will be onsite showing Snowbeast from 1977.  Here’s the summary from IMDB:

“In this made for TV film, an enormous and angry bigfoot creature begins to terrorize a Colorado Ski Resort during a winter carnival, by eating several skiers.”

I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing this one, but since it was originally made for TV, I wouldn’t think it’d be too gory.  On the other hand, the whole “eating several skiers” thing also tells me this isn’t exactly a fun-for-the-whole-family experience. (Editor’s note - Sensitive viewers may this film a bit gory, but it is quite tame by horror movie standards)

March 14: 80’s Après Ski Party in the Beer Garden

Amory’s Tomb’s big blow out to close out Mass Beer Week will be an 80’s Themed Après Ski Party in the Beer Garden.  (Yes, you can get your beers inside, too.)

Come dressed in your best 80’s style ski attire!  I’ve seen photos of what Allen, Rick and Justin will be wearing and all I can say is wow.  Just…wow.

You don’t need that kind of clothing to attend.  Me?  I am highly confident I actually remember more of the 1980’s than Allen, Rick or Justin, but I don’t have anything that looks like their après ski gear.  I have literally 1 sweatshirt from the 80’s that still more-or-less fits me, so that is what I will wear!

Better yet, there will be a handful of eighties inspired dance sets from some of the beer garden’s favorites, and DJ Paul Michael Jeffries will be perform selected works (1980s - present) by outsider songwriter Chad Specter, among others.

Who’s Chad Specter?  I have no earthly idea!  But what would you expect from an 80’s themed party at Amory’s Tomb - a selection of Prince and Madonna tunes?  (For the record, I think a selection of Prince and Madonna tunes would be amazing!)

DRAUGHT UPDATE

People Love That Oat IPA!

The Amory’s Tomb IPA draught drought ended a few weeks ago with the introduction of Rolling Through Outer Space.  RTOS is a 6.7% Oat IPA described by AT as follows:

“[An] oat forward IPA brewed with Blue Ox Malthouse floormalted pale and oat malts, and Aurora Mills & Farm flaked oats alongside Anchovy, Strata®, and Mosaic Cryo® hops. Sweet notes of tropical fruit, berries, and watermelon backed by dank citrus and resinous pine.”

My first thought when I read this was, “Oat forward?  Does that mean it’s going to come with a few Cheerios floating in it?  You know, like how at some places they drop a few real blueberries in a blueberry ale draft?”

Thankfully, the answer to my idiotic question is no.  Rolling Through Outer Space doesn’t really taste like oats.  It just tastes like a really good citrusy, piney IPA.  And at the risk of angering Allen, I might even say it’s a little bit hazy.  It’s certainly more cloudy than, say, the Italian-style pilsner!

Whatever the oats are doing to this beer, I’ve had Rolling Through Outer Space a few times now, and have really enjoyed it each time.  If you like IPAs, you won’t be disappointed.  Furthermore, if you have a friend who likes craft beer but might recoil at some of the more exotic options on the AT Taproom menu, you can bring them along on your next visit and be confident they will enjoy RTOS!

Rolling Through Outer Space is available on draught in the Taproom, and is also available to-go in cans.  Hope Allen and Rick brewed enough of this one to have it available for a long time!

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Here’s what’s coming soon for Amory’s Tomb

Mass Beer Week looks totally bonkers!  See you there!

Weekly Roundup 2/25/26

Hello! My name is Bob, and I correctly guessed the number in my Underberg cap! I was rewarded with Underberg stickers and a chance to write this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter! Here we go:

FEATURED EVENTS

Mass Beer Week Returns Saturday, March 7th to Saturday March 14!

Each year, the Massachusetts Brewers Guild celebrates Mass Beer Week in early March.  Amory’s Tomb didn’t have any real celebration of Mass Beer Week over the past few years because being forced by circumstances to be outside in early March is certainly not something worth celebrating.  But boy are they making up for lost time this year!

Mass Beer Week 2026 runs from Saturday, March 7th through Saturday, March 14th.  That’s a Beatles-esque 8 days, and AT is having 6 different events during it.   In fact, there are so many events that we are only going to cover the first half of the week in this newsletter, and then next week we’ll hit the back half.

Saturday March 7th: Kickoff Party

Mass Beer Week will begin on Saturday, March 7th with a Kickoff Party in the Taproom!  Allen and Rick are hoping to have some special beer releases ready for the kickoff party.  Perhaps a new bottle release is in our near future?

Mass Beer Week swag, both glasses and t-shirts, will be available for purchase.  Personally, I have a ton of craft beer t-shirts and beer glasses, but I can always find room for another!  This year’s glass looks fun, too!

While you’re at the Kickoff Party, be sure to pick up a passport for Mass Beer Work.  The participating breweries are Amory’s Tomb, True West, Rapscallion and Dirigible Brewing during Mass Beer Week, and you can get your passport stamped at each one of them.  I’ve heard that each brewery will have prizes!

Sunday March 8th: Brewer’s Brunch

The next day Amory’s Tomb will have a Brewer’s Brunch, and they’re opening their doors at 11:00am.  That’s right, you can drink a beer before noon and feel good about it because you will be supporting a great local business!

This will be a full-on brunch, but Allen wasn’t prepared to divulge the menu when I asked him about it.  Me?  I’m hoping for a repeat of the candied bacon from this past weekend’s Sunday Fellowship menu!  Holy moly, was that good!  The ratio of Candy sweetness to salty bacon goodness was just right.

Tuesday March 10th: Allen’s Obnoxious Acid Rock (IYKYK) Industry Night!

First, you read that right - Amory’s Tomb is actually going to be open on Tuesday night.  Allen explained to me how if he opens on Tuesday, it’s called an “Industry Night”.  Did that make sense to me?  No, not at all!  But who cares?  AT is going to be open on Tuesday.

Better yet, DJ Nothing Means Nothing will be in the house!  Hopefully you had a chance to catch DJ Nothing Means Nothing’s set in the Beer Garden last year that was full of relatively obscure but awesome old school hard rock and metal.

This time, though, Allen has asked DJ Nothing Means Nothing to focus on acid rock!  I can’t wait to hear what he comes up with!

By the way, if you are wondering where the name “Nothing Means Nothing” comes from, I strongly suggest you Google “Macho Man Cream of the Crop” and watch the first video that comes up.  Easily one of the top 5 wresting promos of all-time!

And that’s only the first half of the week.  Stay tuned for next week’s newsletter where we will discuss the second half, including home brew demonstrations, horror movies and an après ski party!  What a week coming up!

DRAUGHT UPDATE

Last Keg of Very Vine Is On Tap Now!

Very Vine is a version of Saison I: The Classic aged for two years in second use Syrah barrels with red currant, local cider apples, and Cabernet Franc grapes from Nashoba Valley Winery.  It’s as awesome as that description would suggest.  To me, it does indeed have a lot of winey characteristics, but still is very much a saison.

It may just be the best “Classic Variation” yet, and it has also proven to be very popular.  Justin told me that they started 3 kegs of Very Vine, and they just tapped the 3rd one.  That means that while Very Vine is available on draught now, it won’t be on for much longer.  And there aren’t any bottles coming either.  So if you haven’t been fortunate enough to have a taste yet, it’s now or never!  Get yourself to the Taproom and enjoy it while you can!

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Here’s what’s coming soon for Amory’s Tomb

  • March 4 Wheat & Water Crafted Doughz

  • March 7-14 Mass Beer Week (6 Events During the Week!)

  • March 15 Full Irish Breakfast

  • March 25-28 NERAX 2026 Festival in South Boston

March is definitely coming in like a lion at the Tomb!  See you at the Tomb!

Weekly Roundup 2/18/26

Hello! My name is Bob and I am writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter. What’s that? “Weekly?”, you ask. That’s right! Which takes us to our first item:

Social Media Tired! Old School Newsletters Wired!

In case you didn’t see their farewell posts, Amory’s Tomb has decided to no longer provide updates on social media. While foreswearing Facebook and Instagram undoubtedly improved Allen’s mental health, it does beg the question of where you can get updates regarding what is going on at the Tomb.

Your best source of information would be to actually visit the Taproom, of course! You can also visit amorystomb.com to see a listing of upcoming events and a relatively current draught list.

But another way you can keep informed is by receiving this here newsletter. Allen and I are moving from the prior monthly tomes to a shorter weekly format focused on what’s happening right now and in the next 1-2 weeks.

So if you want to know what’s coming up at your favorite saison-focused local brewery, just check your inbox each week. Tell your friends to go to amorystomb.com and subscribe, too. Heck, maybe even Rick will finally subscribe!

FEATURED EVENT

Melted Record Coffee Pop Up and Brunch Sunday February 22nd!

If you’ve been to the Taproom on a Sunday over the past few weeks (incidentally, AT has started calling them Sunday Fellowship) you’ve probably enjoyed Allen’s artisanal doughnuts. They’ve been different and amazing every week.

For this coming Sunday Fellowship, Amory’s Tomb is upping the ante! Melted Record Coffee Roasters will be in the taproom to providing hot and cold coffee and espresso pours.

To accompany your coffee (or beer, of course!) Amory’s Tomb will be offering a selection of sweet and savory brunch items! The menu is still being finalized as I write this, but Allen has promised it’ll include mini Belgian waffles, sweet and savory toasts, and yogurt!

Personally, I’m wondering which beer pair best with Belgian waffles and espresso. My guess is either Robust Porter or Double Oak Classic. There’s only one way to find out for sure!

Brunch will be served from 12:00pm to 4:00pm

DRAUGHT UPDATE

Eight Hundred Year Alignment Makes Shocking One-Off Return!

One of the joys of going to the taproom since it opened in December is seeing what keg of long-forgotten farmhouse ale Allen and Rick have found to put on draught. It seems like there’s been at least one surprise on the menu almost every time I’ve visited, but this past week was a true stunner.

Eight Hundred Year Alignment, brewed in 2021, returned to draught for a limited time! This beer is a 7.9% ABV Bière de Garde that is described as having “notes of juicy fruit, herbal citrus and floral honey.”

Normally when I read a beer’s description I find that I can’t taste any of what they say I should, but with respect to Eight Hundred Year Alignment, I’d say that’s pretty spot on! I remembered this one as being pretty good when it was first released in 2021, and if anything the 5 years have mellowed into an even better ale now.

The name “Eight Hundred Year Alignment” commemorates the “Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in December, 2020, when the 2 planets were separated by no more than a tenth of a degree in the night sky. It was as close together as Jupiter and Saturn had been in 800 years! So you’d better hurry and get a draught of this one while it is still on tap because I don’t think Allen and Rick will be brewing it again for another 794 years!

AT Newsletter 1/15/26

Update from the Tomb

EDITORS NOTE: I am over a week behind in getting out this newsletter. Bob continues to deliver fun and exciting updates, but we are over here playing with too many tap lines and a world full of delicious possibilities.

Hello! My name is Bob, and I observed “Dry January” for 20 whole hours at the start of the New Year! This awesome demonstration of my willpower (or lack thereof) qualifies me to write this month’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter. Here’s what’s happening at the Tomb.

Double Barrel Classic is now on *[Draught]* Draft!

Saison I: The Classic is the OG farmhouse ale from Amory’s Tomb. I say without hyperbole that Classic is the alpha, the big bang, the immaculate conception from which all those other great AT farmhouse ales burst forth. It’s fair to say AT as we know it wouldn’t be the same without Classic.

While sightings of Classic became rarer in the “outdoor only” era, last year we were treated to several batches of Puncheon Classic, a puncheon barrel-aged version of Classic that was just as tasty as the un-barreled version.

Puncheon Classic was terrific, but now that we’re inside Allen and Rick are upping the ante with Double Barrel Classic! Double Barrel started with Classic aged in the Amory’s Tomb foeder, which was then transferred to the puncheons for more aging. That’s right - double barrels!

Allen describes the resulting beer as having both American and French oak characteristics, but adds that it’s not too tannic. My palate is definitely not refined enough to tell the difference between American and French oak, but it sounds amazing!

Double Barrel Classic is about to be kegged as I write this, and should be on draught before the end of the month. Bottles are being conditioned for a later release.

With the unveiling of Double Barrel Classic, can the return of Classic Day, Amory’s Tomb’s own holiday celebrating Saison I, be far behind?

Working to Fill All the Taps

One of the joys of visiting the Amory’s Tomb Taproom is that, since there are more taps than beers available, the draught list is seemingly different every time. Long forgotten vintage beers with inscrutable names such as “Old Jazz Standards” (which I unsuccessfully argued should now be listed as Older Jazz Standards) appeared in December. Farm Road (2024 vintage) was also briefly on tap.

Allen and Rick have shifted their brewing focus to the Taproom, and we are the beneficiaries since that means more small batch experimentation! For example, a new farmhouse ale, Foeder Blend, was recently introduced. No bonus points for guessing how this one was aged!

Shockingly, Amory’s Tomb has had zero IPAs on tap for the past few weeks. Being IPA-free isn’t considered a recipe for success for most craft breweries, so this week Allen and Rick are brewing up an Oat IPA. Oats? I thought these were for horses or my breakfast cereal. I didn’t realize you could put them in an IPA. Does this mean I can drink the new IPA for breakfast? (See below. The answer may soon be yes!)

Look for the new oat IPA to become available later in the winter and end our Taproom IPA draught drought.

Allen and Rick are also working to enhance their gluten-free options. They have recently introduced a cocktail-inspired hard seltzer program and have a few specialties rotating on the menu. Seltzers have never really been my thing, but Amory’s Tomb Seltzers? Well, I am intrigued to say the least!

The bottom line is that it’ll still be a while before all 14 taps are dispensing beer, but that day is coming!

Secret Food Experiments in the Taproom on Sundays

The question Allen, Rick and Justin get asked most often - well, besides “What IPAs do you have on draught?” - is “Now that the Taproom is open, what’s going on with food options?”

If you visited the old taproom on any given Sunday in the years prior to it shutting down then you know why this question keeps getting asked. Brunch in the old taproom became an event.

It was the Amory’s Tomb Brunch that introduced me to the amazing joys of jowl bacon. Who knew that bacon from the jowl was even better than bacon from the rest of the pig?? Thanks to Amory’s Tomb, I know it now!

The AT Sunday Brunch also taught me that chocolate donuts pair surprisingly well with stouts, and in particular with peppermint stouts, which in general I think taste like toothpaste. But I still remember that Sunday Brunch where I housed a bag of donuts and a couple of one-off peppermint stouts! Look, I am not saying that was a healthy brunch, but it sure was a tasty one!

Good times. The setup is a bit different in the new facility, and Allen is still experimenting with what will work from a preparation standpoint as well as what will prove popular. Though he’s been keeping it pretty lowkey, these experiments have been taking the form of different offerings on Sundays. One week it was a multi-course meal. The next week it was amazing donuts.

These Sunday experiments are only sort of announced on social media late Sunday morning. Or sometimes they aren’t announced at all. Either way, head to the taproom on Sundays starting at noon to see what this week’s experiment is.

That’s it for now. Dry January? I’ve got a birthday and a wedding anniversary this month! So it’s more like My January! See you in the Taproom!!
