Weekly Roundup 5/27/26

WEEKLY ROUNDUP May 27, 2026

Hello!  My name is Bob, and I went to a ballgame last week.  Before the game, one of the announcements said that if someone was “interfering with my enjoyment of the game” then I should report it.  So when one of the Boston relief pitchers gave up 2 home runs, I immediately reported him to the nearest usher, and he did nothing about it!  That pitcher absolutely ruined my enjoyment of the game, and yet I was denied any retribution!

I was so indignant then and am getting all worked up just thinking about it now!  To calm down, I’m writing this week’s Amory’s Tomb Newsletter!

Before we get to this week’s news, I need to quickly preview next week’s news.  Next week, we’ll be featuring Maynard PrideFest, and in advance I wanted to direct your attention to a new item Allen has added to the Amory’s Tomb Newsletter.  Check this shirt out:

Doesn’t that look awesome?  In case you don’t recognize it, the image is a variation of the label for the recently released bottle, Unholy Communion, with some of the more decidedly “unholy” elements of the bottle label removed.

I think this shirt is terrific and have already ordered one.  It’ll be the perfect shirt for PrideFest, or really all of Pride Month.  Heck, that shirt is so cool looking it’s appropriate for any time of the year!  I already own a ridiculous number of Amory’s Tomb t-shirts, but this one may become my go-to!

Here’s a link in case you, too, want to order one for Pride Month and beyond:

FEATURED EVENT

Season’s First Friday Night Dance Party This Friday, May 29th!

I wrote about this a couple of weeks ago, so this time I’ll just let the flyer do the explaining:

DRAUGHT UPDATE

Do Me a Favor, Drink More Broken Latch!

In case you either don’t remember everything from the March 28th newsletter or (more likely) sent that one directly to your Trash folder, a Lukr tap is a special tap that allows the beer to be poured with an extra thick, creamy head. And Broken Latch, Amory’s Tomb’s farmhouse-inspired rustic lager, has been on the Lukr since the opening of the Taproom in December of last year.

At first blush, Broken Latch might have seemed like an odd choice to put on a Lukr, but you know what? It’s proven to be a winner! Broken Latch was a very good lager on draught from a regular tap, and the Lukr seems to soften it up just a bit and let the maltiness come out a bit more. I’d highly recommend it.

Here’s the thing, though. Allen and Rick have created a bit of a Lukr controversy. As noted last week, the almighty Man Bun Pilsner has made its triumphant return. I couldn’t be more excited!

A draught of the new Man Bun in a dimple mug is a wonderful thing! The only way it could possibly be better would be if it were a Lukr-poured Man Bun in a dimple mug! Man Bun is a Czech-style lager, after all, and the Lukr is a Czech invention. They’re like peanut butter and chocolate - perfect for each other!

Therein lies the controversy. Allen and Rick, for some annoying reason, put another keg of Broken Latch on the Lukr just as Man Bun was starting to pour. I’ve whined at them every time I visit the Taproom that Man Bun belongs on the Lukr, and Allen finally relented. He said that after this keg of Broken Latch kicks and he cleans the lines, Man Bun will go on the Lukr.

And that’s why I need your help! The sooner we finish this keg of Broken Latch, the sooner we will get Man Bun itself on the Lukr! Listen, I don’t ask a lot of you. Heck, I don’t even know most of you! But do me this favor. Come on down to the Taproom and enjoy a Broken Latch. If not for yourself, then for me!

After all, it isn’t exactly hardship duty to be asked to drink a Broken Latch. It’s an excellent beer, too, and to me even tastes a little like a maltier version of Man Bun. But it’s time - past time, actually - for Man Bun to take its rightful place at the end of the bar.
